1. Haroun, O best of all the caliphs
Of those gone before, and this fleeting one
١. هارونُ يا خَيرَ الخَلائِفِ كُلِّهِم
مِمَّن مَضى فيهِم وَهَذا الغابِرُ
2. The horizons vie jealously for your face among them
So it's as if they're delighted wherever you are
٢. تَتَحاسَدُ الآفاقُ وَجهَكَ بَينَها
فَكَأَنَّهُنَّ بِحَيثُ كُنتَ ضَرائِرُ
3. So arrive with the good fortune and safety
For the auspicious bird has flown for you
٣. فَاِقدَم قُدومَ سَعادَةٍ وَسَلامَةٍ
فَلَقَد جَرى لَكَ بِالسُعودِ الطائِرُ
4. Indeed the eyes are veiled from you in awe
So that when you begin with them, the onlooker lowers his gaze
٤. إِنَّ العُيونَ حُجِبنَ عَنكَ بِهَيبَةٍ
فَإِذا بَدَأتَ بِهِنَّ نُكِّسَ ناظِرُ
