1. More delightful than the description of the deserted abodes,
And than a dove mourning over lost dwellings,

2. And places whose features have been effaced,
Like an ear ornament swept by the wind.

3. In a blooming garden enclosed,
Guarded by every chirping finch.

4. As if its pebbled paths were ornaments
And garments from Yemen spread about.

5. And coffee without chaff mixed in,
Brought to you from a mine or from 'Aṭan.

6. From the house of a wine-seller who sends it
To you like a bride leaving her homeland.

7. Its aroma rising to the heads,
Its smoothness on the palate like butter.

8. From the hand of a youth who sang melodiously
Perfecting in it the subtleties of beauty.

9. He hurries with it yellow like carnelian
In a cup over which a kerchief from Muzan hangs.

10. So more delightful than describing Dibbalah
And the qualities of easy women and degraded men.
