1. We rode through the valleys of Banu Bujayr
Before the dawn when cocks crow.
١. طَرَقنا بِالثَنِيِّ بَني بُجَيرٍ
بَياتاً قَبلَ تَصدِيَةِ الدُيوكِ
2. We left no large army or small host there
With victory wrapped in mail coats.
٢. فَلَم نَترُك بِها إِرماً وَعُجماً
مَعَ النَصرِ المُؤَزَّرِ بِالسُهوكِ
3. To those whose flank and sides
Fled as sand grouse take flight.
٣. إِلى مَن بِالزُمَيلِ وَجانِبَيهِ
وَطاروا حَيثُ طاروا كَالدُموكِ
4. And who deserted their women, so we
Had better right to them than worthy men.
٤. وَأُجلوا عَن نِسائِهِمُ فَكُنّا
بِها أَولى مِنَ الحَيِّ الرَكوكِ
