١. سَهَّدَ الطرفَ وأَضنَى البَدنا
ورأى إِضرارهُ بي حَسنا
2. Your eyes fell asleep, O you whose eyelids
Did not intentionally leave my eyes and tooth a chance
٢. رَقدت عيناكَ يا من طرفُهُ
لم يَدع عمداً لِطرفي وَسنا
3. The advisor said to me, love has made you lean
I said, it still has not ceased for us or against us
٣. قال لي الناصحُ أضناكَ الهوى
قلتُ ما زالَ علينا أو لنا
4. My eye has not sinned, and what has it done?
How can one die from what we love?
٤. ما جَنَت عَيني وَماذا صَنعت
كيفَ يوتى المرءُ مِما أمِنا
