1. When I saw tears welling up, hidden beneath my eyelids,
And my heart drowning in a sea of my own tears,

2. I glanced at my eyes and found no water in them -
So I knew the tears were flowing underneath.

3. If the tears didn't show through the creases of my eyelids,
Rivers of tears would have gushed forth from my heart.

4. Yet my heart's heat dries up the tears -
Where are the remnants of tears in the blaze of embers?
