1. This plague took too many lives
Life itself pleaded for respite from death

2. We didn't care about calamities
Until death came forcing itself upon us

3. That was a calamity that afflicted all people
I cannot see on earth except the grieved

9. Electricity would not have been mentioned
If its name had not been linked with his merit

10. It is the power that people for ages
Remained unaware of its secret

11. The whole universe is just electricity
And though people disagree

12. Oh land of America I console you
For a calamity that refused to be light

13. King of electricity your science immortalized you
And you met death

14. King of electricity I eulogize you
Though you lie in dust

15. King of electricity we owe you
A debt for what you invented

16. I don't consider dead who lives
In people's hearts for eternity

17. He doesn't die whose works
In the factories we built live on

18. He doesn't die who history
After centuries continues to immortalize

19. He doesn't die who succeeded to proclaim
What was secret and hidden

20. And nature allowed to disclose
What in it was stored

Except to whom she sees as trustworthy

22. And your life will continue despite your death
As years and centuries continue to pass

23. It is deeds not bodies in graves
That remain immortal

24. You are the one who made nights bright
With lamps after darkness

25. You are the one who enabled the inanimate
With your ability to speak clearly

26. You are the one who ignited a torch
That guides the guided in every place

27. And you made the effort to improve
The telegraph and telephone

28. And managed to carry a wire
In an age of diverse news

29. You resurrected the ghosts of the deceased
So the spectators can see what they do

30. And you benefitted east and west
With inventions in hundreds

31. You served precious science for science's sake
You wanted no worldly gain

32. You trod on unfazed searching
Caring not if paths ahead were easy or hard

33. What good for people in the view
Of one whose honesty is not verified

34. Everything you made was so novel
Everything you created so valuable

35. And you served humanity after
An effort so tiring - the goal of benefactors

36. These are signs you excellently preceded with
What more is left for others

37. Oh innovator of wide horizons
In your early life

38. You live, you died and that is the case
Of qualities the immortal attained

39. The soul became free to climb high
While the body lies buried

40. Souls must have been prisoners
And bodies their prisons

41. Life made you weary until you disliked living
So you chose rest in death

42. When life declines and weakens
It becomes sorrow and agony

43. Meeting death is no novelty for you
What human avoids death?

44. We hoped you would sacrifice yourself to science
To live guiding the ignorant

45. Oh what a will despite us
Fate decided should be intense

46. Though we thought death would hesitate
To wrong you among us

47. Departed noble soul go slowly
Needs for you have not finished

48. I was shocked when your obit spread
Among the nations of earth collectively

49. If I were at your grave I would bow
My head reverently

50. I was doubtful about the soul
Have you today attained certainty?

51. If the soul is not evanescent
Enlighten us clearly on this

52. The universe is but a deep sea
Whose waves make ships perish

53. Life's bounty if only people
Were safe from each other's harm

54. But the youth lives humiliated
By people who belittle or disdain him

55. Among those who live on earth
There is war over survival, intense and severe

56. No one on the face of earth remains
As her bosom spared and protected
