1. O sky, to you aspire souls distressed by misery
Whose fates have ravaged them upon the earth

2. And wearied them of their confinement in the cosmos
Grant respite, O sky, to weary souls

3. To you, to you they have recourse
Hoping after death for life in your expanse

4. So alas should hope be dashed
Return us then, obscure us if you wish

5. For with promises we're satisfied
We're a people brought low

6. We're innocent people
We've come to love death when

7. We heard it mentioned, so when is the meeting?
When life becomes an illness for a person

8. Nothing saves him but a shroud
One may wish to live healthy

9. But fate does not desire
And there is no love of life in lands

10. Where free souls find harshness
No watering or shepherding a land

11. Whose edges are drenched in blood
It was never safe before this

12. From misfortunes, even the prophets
My soul, if you grieve for death

13. Then I disown you, O my soul
You worshipped the lowly hoping for this lowly life

14. Deceived by the lowly
And encountered disgrace without healing

15. So where do you pretend, where is the unwillingness?
Show me, O sky, and inform me

16. With what I do not know while supremacy is yours
And your stars have continued through the nights

17. Illuminating the heavens with their light
Do our spirits after death, O sky

18. Have lasting life in your sublime expanse?
Or are spirits bound to bodies

19. For us that perish and meet their end?
Does your space come to an end

20. Or are dimensions without end?
It's true that bodies have a limit

21. Or is the limit just presumed?
And after the end of bodies, tell me

22. Is there emptiness in nature or repletion?
Your vastness bewilders me

23. And your serene blue delights me
I love the glow of your twinkling stars

24. The best thing about them is their radiance
Your stars floating in revolving spheres

25. Enveloped in awe and splendor
Their motion seems slow

26. Though it's not slow in moving
Neither in their mass, if we but knew

27. Nor in their distance from us, it's equal
Show me, O sky, and give me choice

28. Else doubt remains in my heart
Will the multitude of sins

29. When dead have no recompense?
By your life, the soul does not want this

30. For sinner and pious are not equal
I've seen some humbly dread death

31. Mention it and weep profusely
Fearing that death will one day

32. Strike down his building and it collapses
And forget what comes after death

44. For the composition may rise in evolution
When elements unite in a structure

45. Its traits are changed, that structure
Acquires distinct qualities of import

46. Its constitutive elements devoid of them
Know that our life and death, my friend

47. Are commotion and expiration in the elements
But stubbornness in some people

48. Misguided by passion is an awful malady
Informing the ignorant of truth is bitter

49. Toil, unmatched by any toil
In essence, if we truly realized, substances

50. Of which the ether has repletion
Conjoin, and from them emerge

51. Substances loyal in repulsion
Minute in volume, trifling

52. From them are entities built
Containing powers of pull and push

53. As shown in electromagnetism here
The sun and celestial bodies indeed

54. Were generated by the motions of heaven
For each saying, from it to it

55. Cyclical beginning and ending
If it appears, that's its existence

56. If it's hidden, that's its extinction
Your sky here contains stars

57. Most hidden from sight
You reckon the night shows you

58. Candles extinguished in the morning
But they are, if you perceive, only suns

59. Attended with care in their illumination
From them the space lit up

60. And from the universe blindness withdrew
To your eyes they seem small when you gaze

61. At the distance and height up there
I hesitate to count the earth as one of them

62. Shy of belittling it
For the earth orbits a sun

63. Affiliated with the mother of stars
So pardon, O grace, for nothing

64. Exists in you but derives its existence from you
You are for all that exists, existence

65. You are for all that exists, a vessel
This sky, you are its expanse

66. This earth, you are its cloak
The existence of what's in the universe indeed

67. Is praise of you if we reflect
How fitting the loftiness you have assumed

68. Befits your stature, O majestic sky
Before creation you were just so, sky

69. No sun there, and no light
Creation will perish, and only

70. For God, then you, will last
So I said to him, God bless you, this

71. Is trespassing on what's known in science
For the realities of things are a mystery

72. Its ambiguity never lifted
The wise before us expressed about them
