1. I yearn for the Sheikh of Arabism, Ahmad
For he has passed away following the foremost

2. And chose from the grave he built for himself
A palace within the belly of the earth without columns

3. He is unable to move as if
Bound in it though he was not bound

4. I yearn for the Sheikh who was grieved over
By the parties of Egypt despite their differing intentions

5. A momentous stalwart, huge
Whoever translates is the desire of the frozen

6. Arabism wept throughout the peninsula
In sorrow for the Sheikh of Arabism, Ahmad

7. The mind, heart and tongue of Arabism
And its guiding flame in the dark night

8. The sanctuary was emptied of Zaki after
Zaki used to go to it and take comfort in it

9. A sheikh who books he chose for himself
Drew the sympathy of youth to the tiny elderly

10. He complied with death, the terminator, and whoever
Lives a long life, do not worry, will be terminated

11. He has tasted the sweetness of life in it and its bitterness
And bitterness is like sweetness for one accustomed

12. The eighty years he surpassed
Were glancing at him with threatening eyes

13. After they buried him, I imagined him
If my imagination is correct, like a sheathed sword

14. Yesterday the sword of truth was bared
And today the sword of truth is not bared

15. It settled into the earth while the sun above it
Sends a torrent of rain upon it every morning

16. His principle that he advised
Needed no aggression from an aggressor

17. The decree has been decided, it cannot be reversed, so
O heavy body descend, O soul ascend

18. The lamp has been extinguished at Philgeh
In the garden of literature without singing

19. Have you seen how in an inauspicious moment
The excellent dug Ahmad's grave and the dew left

20. The wailers wounded me the evening
They weep the eminent, generous man

21. Those lofty ones who lived long amongst us
Took the path to ruin, the farthest path

22. The dead man rests on the earth and if he
Was given the choice he would not have rested

23. Fate hands down commands from above
And fate kills whom it wishes and does not repent

24. You cannot evade the claws of death
Even if you don robes of the crested hoopoe

25. And it is death that takes from their bodies
Without compensation like the act of cooling

26. Indeed, life without blemish if chaste
Suits the noble man who renews

27. The lowly of mankind strive for their stomachs
As for the noble, his striving is for principles

28. If not for parting from those we devote
Our love to, death would be the sweetest destination

29. No use in prolonging life, for it
Is like water, if left long, spoils

30. As for life, it is like
A weaving, its thread interlaced in existence

31. And disasters certainly pass over the noble
Until he wishes he had not been born

32. If the gardens one day contain
The knowledgeable before the devout worshipper

33. Who can see the believers in their Lord
That their sky not be of aquamarine

34. I was before death nothing but a chief
In the house, or party, or covenant

35. And I started glorifying death and that
It is truth, so the disease became a paved path

36. Until I reached, in one leap, ruin
For the path to it is not paved

37. No one will own you after ruin tomorrow
Fear not, for the day of destruction has no tomorrow

38. A person is praised through traces after him
He lives or does not live, if not praised

39. So if remembered through them, you are immortalized
And if forgotten, you are not immortalized
