وينام تحت الارض ثم ينام

His tombstone, with greetings and peace.

جدث عليه تحية وسلام

٣. اما الضريح ليوسف فكأنه
غمدو يوسف في الضريح حسام

4. He used to smile at the affection between us
A covenant from the beautiful past still stands.

٤. قد كان يبسم للمودة بيننا
عهد من الماضي الجميل قدام

5. Shed all your tears, O poet,
For he who you cry for is steadfast.

٥. افرغ دموعك يا قريض جميعها
ان الذي تبكى عليه همام

6. O master, the wind of misery blew him away,
His death broke the covenant of time.

٦. يا سيداً عصفت به ريح الردى
نكثت بموتك عهدها الايام

7. You left our company suddenly out of boredom
So you departed without farewells while they stayed.

٧. فارقت صحبك للملالة بغتة
فرحلت غير مودع واقاموا

8. The newspapers did not publish an obituary, rather
Their pens shed tears for you.

٨. لم تكتب الصحف النعي وانما
ذرفت عليك دموعها الاقلام

9. O you who descended into a narrow grave,
Are you in there, that noble one?

٩. يا نازلا في جوف قبر ضيق
هل انت فيه ذلك البسام

10. Sleep comfortably in your tomb, it is
An abode where dreams do not disturb you.

١٠. نم مستريحا في ضريحك انه
مثوى به لا تزعج الاحلام

11. In the palace or the grave, wherever
You dwell, you remain the eminent master.

١١. في القصر او في القبر شئت فحيثما
تسكن فانت السيد القمقام

12. Life eagerly builds its hopes
While death demolishes in its wake.

١٢. تبنى الحياة حريصة آمالها
والموت في اعقابها هدام
