1. I am amidst a raging, tumultuous sea
The night is pitch-black on all sides

2. A night of tempest and swelling sea
With towering waves, will I survive?

3. I look around but nothing do I see
Except a sea with waves like palaces

4. And though courageous is my heart
It fears not the evil of these waves

5. I plunged into it as it roared furiously
And after venturing in, I regretted

6. If you ride the sea, first look
Lest it be violent and raging

7. How can I survive when my boat
Was smashed by a rock amidst the swelling

8. I swam until both my arms
Called on God, had faith and prayed

9. When I sent my boat out on it
This was not part of my plan

10. I am but an ant in the swelling
And it is like frothing mercury

11. Had I known what I would face
I would have turned back before venturing

12. And if I survive, I will cut off all
Vegetation between me and the sea

13. But I have not fulfilled the purposes
Of the prime of my life that I cherish
