The departure of the heroes of literature

2. Who defended dignity with blades
Shared our afflictions and tribulations

3. And in the immense misfortunes
Weaknesses plagued the caravan

4. Sorrows in our hearts lit
A fire burning in people's hearts without fuel

5. The delegation, the delegation is better than
One who eulogized or lamented

6. Hail to the gallant men
Who raised the status of literature

7. Hail to those who came
With verses recited in wonder

8. How excellent is he who composed a poem
Or delivered a sermon about them

9. And excellent is the poetry extolling
The glory of the conqueror Ghazi

10. And excellent is he who spoke it
And narrated it and wrote it

11. They protected Ghazi as
The eyelid protects the eyeball

12. Ghazi who mended
The crack and stitched the tear

13. Ghazi who inherited
Nobleness from a mother and father

14. Today Ghazi alone
Is the master of the Arabs

15. As for King Faisal
He is a setting star

16. How abundant are the tears that
Poured from the eye for him

17. Time has hurt us
With its sword when it struck

18. And the ardour of sorrow
Remains in the heart, father of flame

19. The boy overcame sorrow
In his calamity, so it did not overcome him

20. What a tremendous incident
That shook the Orient

21. Poetry, if it comes from feeling
Need not fear criticism

22. As if it were in scintillating
Battles, a double-edged sword

23. Gleaming like a diamond on
A precious chain of gold

24. As if it were a necklace
Of pearls over an isthmus

25. I seek refuge from the evil of every
Critic when he lies

26. And the ferocity of one who spits
When he is jealous

27. He who brings no proof
Gains nothing from clamour

28. O Giver of poetry to us
You are better than one who gave

29. Time has opposed us
And time cannot be blamed

30. Our lives did not change
But time itself changed

31. O poetry, you are all I possess
Of purpose

32. And you, O poetry, are related
To revelation by lineage

33. You are my support against time
For time is a party

34. Sing, for your roses have not
Withered nor the water dried up

35. Our brothers in our calamity
Sang of Arab unity

36. A people will not attain
Its goal unless it leaps

37. No nation gains independence
On earth without toil

38. Means are necessary
For everything has a cause

39. Night from the face of morning
Fled after it had gathered and fled

40. The dawn does not lie, its
Lights have threads

41. My poem bears the delegation
When the delegation departs

42. Its rhyme I composed
So it walks surely in the roads
