1. What ails the one enslaved by God, to be so blind?
Nay, but the love of safety blinds his mind.
١. وما بالذي قد دان باللَه من عمى
ولكنما حب السلامة يعميه
2. A man picks not the faith himself believes,
But shuns whate'er that faith reprieves.
٢. ولا يتحرى المرء ديناً لنفسه
ولكنه يأبى معارضة فيه
