5. Oh my companion stop a little, I
Before long will come, look at me arriving

6. If I die, my loved ones grieve in Iraq
For a time, while my enemies rejoice in Iraq

7. And if when I'm dead they seek to criticize me
Let not my judges be among the enemies

8. None remains of the generation whose time has passed
Except ruins, the greatest of decays

9. Oh Shukri's grave, my tears for you
Have brought perfumed poems as gifts

10. Who will close the elegant windows
At dawn, blocking the breeze's pathways?
