1. Trust in the beauty of my patience against time,
And do not trust in my patience against separation.

2. After fifty proofs, eyes of wild deer
Struck my heart in the barren, rugged land.

3. I do not look to the rich man's side
If poverty lies on the noble's side.

4. But I pass by enmities,
My poetry full of sins and spears with reddish points.

5. I cast them at the pillars of Qays ibn Jadara
And made them crumble as catapults do rocks.

6. The Gauthi was not unjust; rather, I was unjust.
Could the chick of water establish the falcon?

7. Oh how I weep for poetry! For I see
Every lizard vying in poetry,

8. With an ocean below him and night enfolding him.
What does he think of night in the ocean's darkness?

9. To you, to you about Lu'ayy ibn Ghalib -
Lu'ayy does not spend the night frustrated!

10. Leave the hissing snake alone, do not expose it -
For death lies between its green fangs.
