1. A full moon appeared, was it the face of my beloved
It shone and illuminated the night, O magic of its view!

2. Is this moon or the radiance of his forehead?
Is this lightning or the glimmer of his smiles?

3. Is this night so black or is it his hair so abundant
Covering his silvery body, O how good is its growth!

4. My body melts like wax before the like of his
As for my heart and thoughts, it is their pasture

5. When he is away, my heart flies away from me
If he visits me, sickness disappears at the sight of him

6. He has an eyebrow like a bow and a slender nose
And lips that told of pale rose, I still watch over it

7. And a cheek and chest like silk brocade
With them, the passionate exceeded the one he loved

8. And a body like velvet and legs well-formed
And cheeks like roses when their scent spreads

9. Pearls are naught but his enunciation
And the gazelle’s blood is none other than his lips

10. So, O his beauty before which I remained
A prisoner of worries, with a heart confounded by its passion

11. I ask him to grant union soon
And cool a fire in the breast with his meeting

12. If I seek closeness from him, he says “Do not fear
A watcher and reproacher we avoid and dread”

13. So I said, may God disgrace the watchers
With separation that does not spare their riding-beasts

14. And I hope in God, the Bountiful
That He soften the heart of a beloved we knew to be aloof

15. So He have mercy on one forever lovelorn
And help him, unite him, and tend to his complaint

16. May He have pity on his distress and give him
A drink that describes musk in its scent

17. For he has become a lovelorn youth
And asks the Lord of mankind, He who guards him

18. He has not changed since his beauty captivated him
Nor did a gazelle distract him from it to make him forget

19. He surpassed all the beautiful ones altogether
And they submitted to love perforce, not lost

20. Just as this luminous-faced one is our imam
And master whom supremacy built its foundation

21. He excelled the people of perfection with ambition
And resolute determination that splits firm mountains

22. He encompassed the horizons with knowledge and wisdom
And revived the lessons of knowledge and law, spreading them

23. Oman benefited through his knowledge
While the first ones sing of his mention

24. And Iraq became a name
Dragging pride over the regions for its dwelling him

25. And Hijaz, grieved at losing the ink, is desolate
Rightfully it weeps blood for it is its spring

26. An imam who sees disseminating knowledge as a duty
Pious, devout, ascetic, and dedicated to it

27. None in his time rivals him
Nor can the mind enumerate his virtues

28. God gave him an ambition that elevated him
To a nobility none attained but him

29. O Rashid, you were a destination for good
So thanks to my Lord who endowed and granted you

30. And O our Shaykh, separation has melted us
And shocked our strength, and patience failed us

31. And bequeathed worry that increases and agony
And the weeping of longing at patience, so it yelled at it

32. So treat us with kindness and mercy
For you are the one who rewards good and accepts it

33. And you remain, O moon of the time, with bounty
And your prominence among people is above prominence

34. And you remain, O family of the Blessed, leaders
To good, so long as the stranger yearns for his land of nurture

35. You are stars the people are guided by
To the ways of the Chosen One whom God specified

36. With power, support, and the loftiness of position
Until he surpassed above the sky and intimated with Him

37. Upon him be God’s prayers and peace
And so upon his family and companions, may God cover them
