1. It is right that we weep for piety and virtue
When the hands of fate have struck virtue

2. And we shed tears of sorrow for one
Who left no equal in religion and knowledge

3. I grieve the day when the soil covered a man
Adorned with the qualities of perfection

4. What a great calamity with intense sorrow
Upon the Muslims that made them shake

5. He was a path of knowledge, now lost, so none
Henceforth will have such adornment

6. A scholar he was in religion and merit
So one who strays from him, wanders astray

7. A moon he was, guided by his brilliance
Thus we struggle since his light faded

8. He spent his life in worship when
He busied himself only with obeying Allah

9. In ease and hardship he was the same
And the same as an elder, adult or child

10. A scholar, worshipper, pious and humble
Exalted, of blessed lineage and origin

11. In communion with His Lord he spends the night
Until dawn unravels its braids

12. And if the pigeons could be ransomed I would give
My life and everything to extend his stay

13. And may Allah gather us together
In the gardens of Paradise, sublime abode

14. In the company of the Messenger, prayers on him
When night falls and day breaks
