2. For the one with the highest aspirations in glory and honor
For the foremost in courage and generosity

3. For the epitome of the era who combined
Impressive valor and eloquent speech

4. For the undisputed minister
Of the auspicious reign of Mahmoud

5. For the one who if the generous were counted
Would by right and merit be listed first

6. And who is like Ali in bravery and contentment
To the cry of one in fear and the waving of one banished

7. And who is like Ali in kindness and freshness
In bestowing gifts and fulfilling promises

8. And who is like Ali in wisdom and guidance
In resolving problems and attaining goals

9. And who is like Ali as an upright minister
Correcting and elevating the ministry

10. And who is like Ali following the path
Of softening and strengthening administration

11. And who is like Ali executing
Commands of implementation and judgments of consolidation

12. And who is like Ali judging by what pleases God
Creating out of nothing and destroying what exists

13. And who is like Ali, kind to kinship
That thrives through nearness or distance to him

14. Oh match to every great one with wise opinions
And deeds preparing the way

15. Oh protector of the established kingdom
From feared discord and desired accord

16. Oh guarantor of orphans, sustaining them
With continuous generosity from his open door

17. I remembered you in the council of ministers
Issuing an obeyed command, unretractable

18. I remembered you at the head of the brigade
Serving the Master after worshipping the Worshipped

19. I remembered you in the sanctuary at night
Reciting verses of remembrance most beautifully

20. Your falling tears and obligated heart
Fearing a Day witnessed between your eyes

21. The world grew dark when you were gone
Yet here I am lighting it with guarded hope

22. And your loss diminished the shade of hope
After you, my hopes no longer spread

23. How the ship of wishes sailed in its seas
To end at generosity the day you departed

24. And every tragedy that befell me
Became easy after you, Ali, were lost

25. Upon you be God's peace as long as the morning gleams
And tender leaves tremble on waving branches

26. And the blessed earth of your grave pours forth clouds
Renewing mercy in the best renewal
