1. O you who weep for the separation of loved ones from Shuht,
Would you not weep for the soul's separation from the body?

2. A light lingered in clay until its appointed time,
Then it rose sublimely, leaving the clay to windings sheets.

3. How difficult was their parting after their union!
I think it was a truce amidst smoke.

4. If their reunion is not by God's pleasure,
What a loss has been made in this bargain!
