1. My God, my sins are countless
And who but the Merciful forgives and pardons?

2. You, my Lord, can forgive, All Powerful,
You guide, forbid, and command.

3. My passions misled me in their prime,
And I inclined toward pleasures, desiring them.

4. I delayed joining the rows of worshippers in prayer
And was miserly in charity, though wealth bedazzles.

5. I looked upon what Allah has forbidden
And my feet stumbled upon the path of sins.

6. I knew well that You were my Witness,
Nothing being hidden from You, my God, however covered.

7. I was sure that I walked in misguidance
And my path was a desert, while meeting You is a downpour.

8. From my sins I have abasement and disgrace.
Tears will flow from my eyes tomorrow.

9. In the sanctuary of Allah I have honor and repentance
With which I don the garments of glory and pride.

10. I directed my steps to Your open gate
And here I am, my Lord, pleading for Your favors.

11. My God! Who among us is without sin?
Be generous with us when You are able.

12. For if You judge us by what we have wrought,
We are lost, and the seller of sins will lose.

13. So treat us with forgiveness, pardon, and acceptance of repentance,
For we are most in need of these three.

14. I will make fear of Allah always in my heart
And my utterances, secretly and openly, will rejoice in His remembrance.

15. If today my sins are a register,
Then the forgiveness of the Lord of the Universe is a river and an ocean.

16. I have turned my she-camel toward the pasture of the Merciful
And I said to her: "Go on, for your pasture is green!"

17. If the burden of the sins I have reaped is great,
Then, O Allah, Your forgiveness of the burden is greater!
