1. I branched from the seed of glory and loftiness
So I came as a pillar in the tribe, endowed

2. Abu Talib, sheikh of all the meadows
Your father who makes the auspicious fly high

3. He believed in Allah truly and only
On the religion of Abraham which was first

4. So he guided with it to the religion, aiding and victorious
And forbade with it, a fortress for Taha and refuge

5. With it the religion of Allah was mighty when he stood up for it
Baring blades, determined and armed

6. And you are the lion cub, his defender after him
Of the lofty nest and the honored place

7. So excellent is the defender and comforter with himself
His brother when affliction intensifies and twists

8. You preceded to Islam, following its guidance
And prayed before the Muslims, in succession

9. The face of the religion cheers with good news and ease
Worthy of it when it saw you cheer

10. And guidance overflowed copiously and its pasture
Became fertile soil since your sword streamed

11. Purchasing with his soul obedience to Allah
To repel the plot of the polytheists and nullify

12. So the near angel boasted, thanking
His efforts, extolling them as most virtuous

13. So your soul is the soul of the Chosen in its traits
The Trustworthy Spirit reveals it in revelation

14. And you had been from him and abundant virtues
Like Harun from Moses, place and station

15. And on the day of Badr, the greatest event
In which the pillar of polytheism collapsed utterly

16. You quenched Quraysh a cup of war once
And they thought to drink comfort in chains

17. And on Ohod you left their leader lifeless
Taliha, branded on the forehead, bloodied

18. You pushed them back, their crowds retreating
With the white of sword's clanging appearing dented

19. And when the horses of misguidance turned
From the border, fleeing with idle tongues

20. The soul of Ibn Ghaba endured the horrors
Donning the garb of firmness, fully clothed

21. Defending the Guide from the lassitude of Dhi Jadhal
Repelling the gowns of firmness from him and stepping forward

22. And were it not for you, their arrows would have won high status
And the circle of destruction turned on Islam

23. So Jibril extolled your glory - no knight
Or sword - filling the heavens

24. There, if you sought men, you would have found them
In the most despised place, fleeing disgracefully

25. And you were the defender in Hunayn of guidance
While the people fled bewilderedly

26. And you poured on the factions from you afflictions
Bringing back on them the night of adversities

27. The next morning faith met polytheism entirely
So the strength of Islam marched with you leading steadfastly

28. The vicissitudes of fate and sudden death
Pride of the earth lies slain by your sword bloodily

29. And the knights handed him over while their horses
Neighed like the snorting of wild animals whipped

30. And it is no shame that the brother of aid appoints
The lion's sight, perceiving, advancing

31. With your sword the burdens are honored by its sharpness
And pride in it rises to the honor of highness

32. So it is equal if with it a brave's head rises
Like mine, or crowns him, garlanded

33. And in Khaibar the standard rose in your palm
Divine victory descended upon you

34. The tall fell short of it one morning
When I came broader in battles and taller

35. And yesterday adversity had branded it
So when your palm marked it, it gained elevation and beauty

36. And when you tore down the door, no structure remained standing
For those fortresses but tottering

37. And by my life, those are of your glimpses that
Amaze those interpreting in interpretation

38. Stations you waded into death, wrestling
The darkness of events until the truth dawned and cleared

39. And when the two violators assumed and overturned
The command to you, seeking it and changing

40. You requited them measure for measure and tomorrow
Their fullest requital, hellfire burning

41. And you assumed leadership of the Mother of Believers in what she harvested
Beautiful, pardon, all-encompassing and gracious

42. Aisha fought the successor and her fighting
Was like fighting Allah's Messenger, explicitly

43. Beyond the veil of Allah, she became misguided
On the camel, folding and unfolding

44. So the dogs of the deviants barked
At you and did not increase you but deeper involvement

45. You rode tremendously and the hadith belongs to its people
Sorrows and condemnation, so whoever wishes, less involvement

46. And Damascus, Son of Hind, your sword flashed at it
At Siffin, washing away its ravines

47. So he resorted to the sides of steeds protecting him
Resort of panicking birds when they spotted vultures

48. And Amr feared facing you so he avoided
With his evil the form of evil when it took form

49. You turned him back and if not for customary pardon and forbearance
You would have threaded his canine with wire

50. He called you to arbitration deceitfully and had he called
Your sharp sword the judge, it would have decided

51. So Abu Musa deviated from fairness, wronging
And Amr accompanied him with lies and deceit

52. Far are you from arbitrating a twisted dissembler
Who hates you but could not find a way to be rid of you

53. You obliged them to the Book's ruling but his desire
Turned him from the clear truth so he lingered

54. Does he seek to remove the mantle of your patronage
That you singled out one day by which religion perfected?

55. One appointed by Allah as proof cannot be prevented glory
Or removed and dismissed

56. My intimate in the depths, the agony remains
Refusing to leave me for ages to settle

57. So do not remind of the day of Ghdir, giving its tidings
With lasting sorrow instead of happiness

58. Wearing it unjustly, ancient in its pact
And new in its text, the day of Khum in succession

59. And the coarse dissolver dissolved its link
To seize command then dissolve

60. Making it raging blindness and misguidance
While the light of guidance from the house of revelation appears

61. So for Allah what raging confusion it provoked
And brought upon Islam and the religion complexities
