1. His gentle bending as the branches bend,
Swaying gracefully to his slender waist.

2. If the whisper of his swaying was heard,
He leans for support on his bending shape.

3. His glances poured magic oh so sweet,
Into hearts enchained by his smooth cheeks.

4. What do the passionate blame in love
For a beautiful, youthful, tender bud?

5. Is it the apple cheeks or the narcissus lids,
Or the mouth like pearls finely lined?

6. Many a slain victim of the eyelids
Struck down by their arrows of glance.

7. A branch belonging to Arabs but
The keen sword of passion shreds.

8. Wondrous are the eyes that wound a heart
While it witnesses their glances.

9. They shed my blood and witnessed my murder
The smooth cheek of the watcher, reddened.

10. O oft resistant, make peace submissively
For none can withstand your disdain.

11. Be gentle, O perfect in beauty, ardour
Quenched in the valley of pleasure cooled.

12. Awaken, O sleepy-eyed, to a night
Of love for you, everlasting.

13. Would that your eyes which bring ruin
In slumber, avoid the gloomy enchained.

14. Youth almost passed with no good tiding,
Till the day Muhammad appeared.

15. The garden of tidings bloomed through him,
The bird of joy sang through him.

16. He came and the feast came together,
Both rising, secret and most blessed.

17. His virtue manifested, his branch now wholesome,
Blessed among branches of glory and belief.

18. Majid in whom all virtues convene
So he in his gathering of virtues is unparalleled.

19. If soft clouds told of his voice,
It would face life, blossoming, branching.

20. He composes praise in his exaltation but
In dew, his encompassing bounty disperses.

21. The House of Zainalabidin is the noblest house
That inherited merit, one after another.

22. When misfortunes gather intensity,
And multitudes of armies converge,

23. Scholars who pronounced discourse
Have you seen swords when they are unsheathed?

24. In the sky of the exalted, mansions shine
Whose radiance is everlit.

25. Yes, al-Musta’sim, the protector of mankind
Through whom Ahmad’s law was supported.

26. Through whom the foundations of canon were laid
By God’s permission to be founded.

27. He established religion so it straightened
And no building stands unless first founded.

28. God graced him with a cloak of favor
When the imam wore it, distinguished.

29. The guidance of integrity upright,
O guided one, come so you are guided.

30. And Ali is the best advocate for the exalted,
With his resolute wisdom and sound judgement.

31. He led the difficult ascents with ease,
The reins and guiding rope in his hands.

32. O seeker, none compares to Ali,
Spare us seeking what cannot be found!

33. If you say a lion in a jungle, I say charging.
Or you say a torrential rain, I say pouring.
