1. I am content with the pleasure of days gone by,
Each morrow brought solace in place of them all.

2. O gem whose essence has been purified,
Whose glory and nature are purely sublime!

3. Khosrau donned it as his crown and ruled;
It governed all kingdoms of merit and passed.

4. The eloquent Arab polished his manners through it,
Rays of splendor - their brilliance undimmed.

5. Virtues that preoccupied every conclave
And whose excellence all vied to possess.

6. O everlasting grace, O springtime dew,
Generosity lives on though long dead.

7. You are the truest guide to wisdom,
I seek refuge lest sickness draws near.

8. You assayed Razi's verse and it was,
Through your assay, excellent poetry still.

9. Prostrate yourself before its signs when recited,
Prostration at them is an ordained rite.

10. O doe of the valley, tenderly grazed,
On a night of vale, flickering, alit.

11. So favor not a weakling without burden,
But one heavy-laden, arisen for fight.
