The night of longing grew long upon us,

4. For a time that would end our sorrow.
Water quenches every fire, yet

5. The fire of yearning is fed by tears.
Would that companionship between us last,

6. Not finding in these times a happy life,
Grief nearly destroyed me for the home so far away,
