1. The garden did not flourish with lushness, nor did the valley overflow with water,
Yet the gentle breeze diffused its sweet fragrance,

2. Neither did the brook flow with precious gems and jewels,
Arranged systematically for viewers.

3. More beautiful and pleasant to hearing and sight,
Than the beautiful pages of this eminent scholar.

4. Whenever I glance upon it, it renews for me,
A yearning and thirst to read this fine discourse.

5. Were we to meet, I would say that gentle wind intoxicated,
The minds, and nothing led but the pen.

6. A rhyme flowing smoothly like rainfall in harmony,
Though some eloquent rhyme may not be harmonious.

7. Praise be to He who excellently manifests,
Signs of noble rank and determination.

8. With his eloquent meanings and rhetoric adorned,
Enchanted, and with his poetry endowed with wisdom.

9. Cultured, adorned with virtues,
Of distinguished lineage, with an unbroken chain.

10. Remembrance thus spreads through the horizons of one like him
And knowledge more renowned than fire upon a flag.

11. O you who recount his merits, speak without hesitation,
For praising his ocean, every thirsty one may drink.

12. To him alone have the reins of jurisprudence been handed over,
And none but he in laws has wisdom seen.

13. As if his judgment issued from Nu'man's own mouth,
The truth within it is unambiguous and unconcealed.

14. With penetrating intellect he clarifies every ambiguity,
Like the full moon dispelling the darkness of night.

15. O eminent one, from his achievements we have seen,
A singular example of merit and generosity.

16. The mantle of the Burdah, resplendent, he has worn,
Woven from words, a garb of virtues.

17. And how many an adept has aspired to it, seeing,
Its way smooth and passable, not rugged and impregnable.

18. Until the idea dawned on al-Wahhab perplexed,
The most sublime endowments, glories and favors.

19. So he came with this precious praise which was ennobled,
By the excellence of its owner, the best of nations.

20. Your sea ceaselessly casts every precious pearl,
Costly, of inestimable value and price.

21. It exhales a perfume of the sweetest verse,
And the scent of perfume spreads from mouth to mouth.
