1. He who would sleep after your loss is redeemed,
And he who chants when the dove coos is redeemed,

2. And I meant by redemption not one who sleeps
From rights nor one to blame,

3. Nay, the steed of generosity does not tire,
By him wars stand and clamor,

4. And when war of the protected overflowed,
He ran and his flood was death's poison,

5. When limits were shot at him, the rows of horses linked
And he for them was an imam.

6. He excels in battle while a stallion
With no saddle on him nor bridle,

7. So when he left no spears on earth
Ambushing him, the dove swooped down,

8. Pecking the fresh tidbits of birds
And drinking blood when wine is forbidden.

9. When he could no longer stand, death came to him
And he said to her, I am that food.

10. He was generous with himself when unable
To be generous, thus the noble horses.

11. You were the full moon opposing him like an eclipse
Portending evil upon its perfection.

12. So do not distance yourself, if you distance from us,
For this life cannot be methodically arranged

13. If you do not uncover the worries in my heart,
So may the horses be echoes and passions!

14. The youth folded up your departure, O Son of Yahya,
So my eyelids know no more sleep.

15. I did not attend when he passed to complain
Of the throat disease which caused his perishing,

16. Nor did I know the night they dragged his body,
Honored by me for his mighty physique.

17. Did I not swear by you to inform me,
Whether he was carried on the bier of ambition?

18. They went transferring him stealthily
While tribes stood over him.

19. So they tore him apart and did not cover him with armor
Against him the swords and arrows grew.

20. Will the dove kill him, though horned,
While the vilest plunder and dishonor him?

21. O Abu Issa I ransom you with myself
For death is a destiny that cannot be blamed.

22. Stay in the shade of Ismail, it will guarantee
For you safety and permanence.

23. If the minister remains loyal to us,
Then say to fate it may destroy but people remain!

24. With it I counseled a brother, eulogized property,
Performed the trust, and peace.
