1. My people warned me though they did not know
How stubborn I am and my raging flood is obstinate
١. قَالَ لِي قَوْمِي وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمُوا
كَمْ أَنَا صَلْبٌ وَطُوفَانِي عَنِيدْ
2. Beware of horrors and fear havoc
And watch events but from afar
٢. احْذِرِ الأَهْوَالَ وَلْتَخْشَ الرَّدَى
وَارْقُبِ الأَحْدَاثَ لَكِنْ مِنْ بَعِيدْ
3. How much blood has flowed on earth and how many
A severe pulling has shaken
٣. كَمْ دَمٍ قَدْ سَالَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَكَمْ
مُهْجَةٍ قَدْ هَزَّهَا نَزْعٌ شَدِيدْ
4. Death here is but silence
And eternal life is granted to the obstinate
٤. إِنَّمَا المَوْتُ هُوَ الصَّمْتُ هُنَا
وَحَيَاةُ الخُلْدِ تُؤْتَى لِلْعَنِيدْ
5. They stole the dreams of my people and claimed
They came to liberate the slaves
٥. سَرَقُوا أَحْلاَمَ شَعْبِي وَادَّعَوْا
أَنَّهُمْ جَاءُوا لِتَحْرِيرِ العَبِيدْ
6. They tore apart children in the past in vain
After they had led my elders in shackles
٦. مَزَّقُوا الأَطْفَالَ فِي المَاضِي سُدَىً
بَعْدَمَا اقْتَادُوا شُيُوخِي بِالحَدِيدْ
7. So let me burn my rage with them
Then after my death, live anew
٧. فَدَعُونِي أُحْرِقِ الغَيْظَ بِهِمْ
ثَمَّ أَحْيَا بَعْدَ قَتْلِي مِنْ جَدِيدْ
