1. O messenger, convey what's between Sanaa and Egypt
From the Arabs, endless greetings to the Arabs

2. And after conveying the greetings to them
Advise them with good, unquestionable advice

3. Know that the Sultan of the desert has always
Been keen on Islam against the misguidance of disbelief

4. And were it not for him, disbelief would have spread
Its domains and overwhelmed you, stealing the best years

5. So he has rushed with a large army to you
For your benefit, not for hardship and oppression

6. As comfort for the poor and aid for the distressed
And safety for the frightened and deterrence of traitors

7. The Sultan did not rush out of greed for your possessions
And gather wreckage - he is like a stick in the sea

8. And what has come to you is enough for your needs
And all of you know this, clearly realizing

9. You have been advised sincerely and truthfully
Free of deception and betrayal

10. And indeed, by God's grace I have lived among you
For long without contradicting what I have written

11. And if the envious have fabricated lies against me
They have attributed lying and sorcery to the Chosen One

12. And maligned him, and insulted him unjustly
With some of his merits bordering on diminution

13. God has ordered that if a sinner comes
With news, the authorities should verify

14. So when they realized I do not accept
The words of the slanderers, they increased my value

15. With pardon - and if I remain in foreign lands
The Merciful has eased my heart with His grace

16. I have no sin in the land of my people or others
Except seeking knowledge for benefit and publication

17. And teaching the ignorant and guiding the student
And ruling by this revelation willingly and forcibly

18. And I have not let the words of the sinner
Agitate my heart or shake my soul

19. And nothing has harmed me but your disunity
For through it you have become like a line in the sea

20. Had you stood up obeying the one whose
Words must be heard in prohibition and command

21. You would have enjoyed bliss, comfort
Without killing or destruction

22. But when God split your unity
You saw horrors that break the back

23. Especially between Sanaa, Rayma and what's between
Zahran of Bani Bakr

24. As for the Hejaz lands and their people
There are the Chosen One's family, the core

25. They have not disobeyed the Sultan openly or secretly
Or done anything ugly or objectionable

26. How could they when they are the best of people, and from them
The universe enlightened, on land and sea

27. My heart and soul love them
They are my elite until I am buried in the grave

28. Loving them fills the heart with faith
And hating them leads to shame and evil

29. Noah's ship, he who embarked was saved
And he who abandoned it - no matter what he did

30. They have granted security to these lands and purified
Their features - so listen, if you did not know

31. Honorable men from Hashim's lineage
Kings, rise above estrangement and betrayal

32. Upon them be God's peace at all times
Forever, as long as the spheres revolve in their orbits

33. And I also pray, not insulting its people
That Egypt be graced, the land of virtues and worth

34. O remnant of Azd Shanu'a
And others - desist from wrong and evil

35. And do not listen to those whose men you have killed
And who became debris, like chaff from threshing

36. Their hearts are sick from what you have done
Even if time passes - people still remember

37. When they heard their words, you absolved yourselves
And claimed they exemplified betrayal

38. They failed - the feeble ropes they misled you with
Do not prevent those who realize the truth

39. So return to The Merciful - it is by Him
The pillars of the faith stand firm on land and sea

40. He helps the wronged and suppresses the oppressor
And the religion of the Muslims rises above disbelief

41. My reminders have come to you, O Qahtan's sons
An old covenant I have not forgotten in my life

42. And say the same to Shahran and Hamdan
As I have told you of prohibitions and commands

43. And I advise you, and myself first,
To obey the Benevolent One in secret and openly

44. Whoever obeys The Merciful will never suffer agony
Nor will he be vexed - neither Zayd nor Amr

45. And be steadfast in piety like palm and forearm
To attain unity, the greatest good without effort

46. Do you not see how bees when united
Produce honey that heals sickness of the chest

47. While when hornets split, they have nothing left
But disgrace, destruction, humiliation and loss

48. This example is enough for one who is wise
So do not neglect it in my life or grave

49. And do not listen to the deceived monkey in the rubble
Who hovers with crows in the confusion of thoughts

50. Wishing he could meet with approval for his deeds
While he is the leader of disgrace and harm

51. Whoever contends with the Sultan will have his horn broken
And what harm is greater than being broken?

52. By God's grace we have long known his right
And obeyed the Chosen One, as we know

53. But what comes between us is what prevents us
From what we rightly deserve - so we have excuses

54. For each of you knows his virtues
But you have suffered oppression

55. Whoever is tested by vile intrigues with a setback
Let piety, truth and patience be his remedy

56. Words have come to you, strutting in garments
Of advice, sincerity, prohibition and command

57. They have come from Rome, whose fame has spread
Far, while he is captive in the clutch of prisoners

58. But praise God, I am patient
And do not long for the past days of life

59. I have good expectations that a raid will come soon
To free me from captivity, from where I know not

60. I do not yearn for the country or its people
Even if my brothers are there - there lies my affair

61. Neither is my homeland my mother, nor Rome my father
Neither is Yemen my uncle, nor Syria my in-law

62. I will not gain by crying for reunion
Or complaining - He knows the plight of the afflicted

63. I am from honorable, noble people
Whose merits are too many to count

64. But a sin I committed has cast me away
I will wash it, if I live, in private and public

65. And indeed, by God's grace, I admit to it
And by His kindness I still enjoy blessings

66. I am not helpless if I stay silent
And if I speak I know what to begin with

67. The order of my composition and its end is the name of our Exalted Lord
Above association, of highest status

68. And also prayer and peace upon the one by whom
Afflictions are unveiled on the Day of Assembly

69. And his noble family, then his companions and followers
And followers of guidance until the end of time
