1. A land lent its necklace a dove,
And dressed it in the peacock's plume,
١. بَلَدٌ أعارَتْهُ الحمامةُ طَوْقَها
وكساهُ حُلّةَ ريشِهِ الطّاووسُ
2. As though those anemones were coffee,
And the courtyards were all drinking cups
٢. وكأنّ هاتيك الشقائقَ قَهْوَةٌ
وكأنّ ساحاتِ الديارِ كؤوسُ
