1. The air spread coldness over the land
What pearls for throats if they solidify

2. Pearls whose shells are clouds
From which lightning accomplished what it promised

3. It gave them bare of misery
And acquiring pearls by diving is misery

4. Noble ants almost picked them up
Eagerly like precious rubies

5. And adorn yourself with them if
Your necklace was invalidated, the loss of its beads

6. The sky melted them with tears
Above a ground receiving them on its cheek

7. Streams flowed from it around us
Like serpents of rushing flood

8. And you see every deep stream
Bubbles swam in it

9. From eggs laid
In the intertwining of water above turquoise

10. Thunder, its voice soothed eyelids
Like the gurgling of a ladle in boiling water

11. It wandered the countries of life
A land it waters after land

12. So it is like the guide, if passions
Arouse it, it shouts at them and flogs

13. As if the lightning in them is an archer
With arrows, whenever ignited it is quenched

14. Sometimes it hides and disappears, sometimes
Like a sword whenever unsheathed it is sheathed

15. It terrifies the sights flashing red as
The lion overturned the camel-loads in the night

16. And the thirsty land’s feeble plants
The guide turned away from it and abstained

17. Vegetation dressed it in robes
With a splendid pattern, renewed

18. And the rain watered it from the water-skin
So the lightning opened the night and blocked it

19. With dripping drops inside the belly of the earth
Like the soul's life in the corpse's death

20. So the branch bent, drunk with dew
And the birds glorified and chirped

21. As if the dawn were hands that untied
From the night’s darkness, knots with light

22. And as if the sun flowed, molten gold
Flying, hunted by every hand
