1. They say to me, "You do not excel at satire"
So I said, "Why should I excel at praise?"

2. They said, "Because you hope for reward"
And truly this reasoning is sound

3. So I said, "My traits..." They said, "Are good"
I said, "My lineage..." They said, "Is fine"

4. I said, "To you I have an argument
And for the truth in it there is ample space"

5. Restraint of tongue is speaking of beauty
While loose tongue is speaking of ugliness

6. And why should I, or any Muslim,
Go around wounding with the sword of my tongue
