Neither turning away from youth nor bored

3. He who makes hearts roam freely through ambitions
Relieves you from neediness and lack

4. Who forbids calamities with sword, do not blame
A jewel whose sword shines with generosity

5. Well-mannered in every science for all peoples
As though his qualities were wine of the finest grape

6. He brings joy to life and kills all worries
I have found in him a master with no regret

7. From grapes he pours me
A beverage older than time

8. Its nonexistence carries the cup
Its crystal clarity over it does not sleep

9. Except with description, or taste, or smell
In a night that passed like a dream

10. As if the stars in the darkness
Were faces of Rûm swimming in a swarm

11. Until the night grew old and drove away
And the light of dawn fled, defeated

12. Like a frown in the face of a smile
I rose to hunt birds in a wasteland, dark red

13. Like the night but for the kiss of dawn's mouth
A sea tied down tight

14. With a falcon whose eyes blaze fierce
Clawed and twisted, never straight

15. Like a bare crescent moon rising amid the gloom
At a pitch black turn not somber gray

16. Bony, his nostrils bare to the winds
Determined against the birds, storming in

17. While the birds there are cowardly and stupid
Until he glanced with eyes like embers

18. Honestly, I flashed them, blameless
And saw the cleavage, he resolved

19. Like a lion who came upon a flock of sheep
In a garden whose birds sing sweet melodies

20. As some groups of non-Arabs have sung
Spring rose up among them on its feet

21. Opening the eyes of flowers that did not sleep
Wandering in it like tears of sorrow

22. So he left the hunt to perceive the smell
Seizing lightning in a cloud bursting open

23. Whatever he missed he left it to the raid
Horsemen followed the hands of servants

24. And he returned to the hunt, loyal to compacts
With a spear from which excess blood flows easy

25. You smile erasing the ink with the pen
