For Zainab, Umaimah or Ra'um.

Dawn breaks, its light severed.

As if dawn were a gazelle in sand dunes

11. Growing old and fearing the whip.
I saw old agedescending upon us

12. With its signs plain and clear.
If you deny it, you deny in it

13. An adversary neither harsh nor unjust.
And youth bid me farewell, so I became

14. In relation to it like the small to the great.
So leave what will bring you nothing
