1. O you whom I adore
Have mercy, for one like me deserves mercy

2. Nothing remains in me
With which I can be consoled or wronged

3. This is your time, if only
You would accept and be one who favors

4. Beauty is nothing but a state
Beloved, to be seized

5. And when it passes and you miss it
Ignorantly, you will regret

6. I have advised and after this
My soul is sacrificed for one who understands

7. By God, it is enough for me, one who perceives
Your blindness, though to me it’s but arrows

8. And the excuse which appears like
A number, yet to me it's unnumbered

9. For God's sake, advise me or make
Unlawful in scripture what's unlawful

10. And my blood is lawful, I don't see
It would be ruled so by a Muslim

11. And I have recalled our time
When companionship was a braided rope

12. So I wept for it until I wept from grief
Blame upon me from the blamers

13. O guide of the most desolate places, stop
Perhaps they will become disillusioned

14. And if you stay in my lowlands
Wherever they have pitched their tents or settled

15. I see that if my killer were to notice
Wherever they said they knew not

16. O my neighbor, with her swaying gait
It was not by my choice that you wronged me

17. May God not make desolate the protected grounds
With my loving family from you

18. You were nothing but prosperity
Everlasting, if only you had remained

19. No misfortune parted you
That makes the land weep, then smile
