1. The moon peeked out, and the air was its sky,
It filled sights and souls with its splendor.

2. Its motion and stillness made it shy,
And its front and back were too narrow for it.

3. Its beauty almost snatched thoughts away,
And its radiance almost seized eyes.

4. When the crescent was reproached for its deficiency,
It was pleased and its perfection and growth increased.

5. Its motions and stillness long for
Its smoothness due to its lord who

6. Protected borders, his defense and his singing surrounded them,
His leadership healed the wounds from the bites of enemies.

7. A country prides itself for including it, for it
Dispels the darkness of its night with its illumination.

8. Thus its traits become evident in its regions,
And its blessings overflow in its corners.

9. And an aided one extends the fences of victory in it,
Its views make walls unnecessary for it.

10. A volunteer who gives the good his chastity,
It is as if they are his partners in his money.

11. Oh son of the two Imams to whom
Pride of ancestry, loyalty and allegiance were attributed.

12. You raised the standards of guidance against those
Who harbor enmity until your purpose and moderation became clear.

13. And brother of the Caliph of God whose
Caliphs gave him what they were entrusted with.

14. His justice encompassed the land, and his wealth watered
Both the rich and poor with his gifts.

15. The alliances of victory’s support are his allies,
And the protectors of his territory, they are his trustees.

16. The sons of Ishmael, his promise to them remains
True, honest and loyal.

17. From Qais ‘Ailan, and do you know what
Qais is? It is the maker of the religion of guidance and its improver.

18. They raised him as a cub, so they are his fathers,
And they looked after him as a youth, so they are his sons.

19. Supporting him until the day of judgement is their duty,
And the banners and flags are theirs.

20. They are those who fight his enemies
Until his power humiliates their enemies.

21. They restored his soul after
Grief over life had left its blemish.

22. So the religion is bound upon him as its crown,
And its gown is draped over him.

23. And the pillars of monotheism are high of structure,
And polytheism has collapsed and its building has fallen.

24. You seek the self of the enemy, his land or you defeat him,
Not the enemy’s blessings and his shelter.

25. So if he obeys you then you are his bliss,
And if he refuses then refusal is his torment.

26. The noble one has his remedy with you
No matter how much his sickness persists in misguidance.

27. The amount of his nonsense and foolishness mislead him,
And his illusion extends his confusion.

28. Never! That cannot bend your determination,
For a flood is easier than its foam.

29. Can the command of God be blocked from you regarding what
He chooses of your victory and wills?

30. He gave him a long respite out of your patience
So he may return with his arrogance relaxed.

31. So his obstinacy threw him into an abyss,
And his delusions dropped him from a cliff.

32. You gave him respite until his day, and tomorrow is yours,
Its morning and evening keeping an eye on him.

33. We surely scared away harm and averted it
With you, like the Indian’s sword whose sharpness burned.

34. And we say to the world in a reaching voice,
Its words and call are the praise of your glory.

35. Guard Abu Yahya for us and honor
Meeting him as long as he remains in you.

36. For there is a celebration that adorned your palace,
Its arrival and visit are good news.

37. And from a content, grateful slave
Whose praise and commendation of you never wanes.

38. He gifted the poem in verses and wished that
Its lines were his love instead.
