1. O mother of villages, o paradise of today and tomorrow
And o jewel of the ancient, renewed glory

2. Your soil is more dewy than crushed sweet basil
And your rock is more useful than the finest emerald

3. The most precious of God's lands on earth as a home
And birthplace of the best of prophets, Muhammad

4. We knew love before love was created
For you, so we attained it at the best time

5. We loved you as little children and youth
And increased our love for you as great elderly men

6. We quenched you with hot tears of affection
That grow in sincere, deep passion

7. So there is no honor for those who spurn you if fortunes turn against them
And misfortune returns them to the worst fate

8. And those who love you remain if the nights' events Should toss them around, far and near
Lands of love, generosity, revelation and dew

9. And cradle of the glorious, blessed Scripture
Pilgrims from every worshipper surround you

10. Humbling themselves before God, or just praying
They called out to your valley from all paths

11. And came to your club from every approach
They converged on the generous, purified field

12. Calling out to Him there, masters and slaves
God protects you, for God shelters you as a refuge

13. For every pious, upright monotheist
