1. The heart was shocked and almost shattered
The tears overflowed and kept flowing

2. The happy life gloomed and time darkened
Though it was bright in its time, and became turbulent

3. Sorrows came in succession and joys of our life
Flew away from us, as you see

4. Worries and consuming sadness renewed
And intimacy turned away from happiness and walked away

5. All hearts were saddened and crumbled
When the proud, old man passed away

6. The virtuous, learned shaikh of the time
Nay, the light of time who was most wise

7. Of high status, Ali ibn Muhammad
Destroyer of darkness when time went astray

8. He surpassed the scholars of his generation
In feats and virtues that cannot be confined

9. He is the generous one for those who came
Seeking guidance, the full moon at its peak

10. With ambition higher than stars in dignity
And determination before which the brave retreat

11. Eloquent, skillful and expressive
Specialties given to him while others lagged behind

12. He is our axis embodiment of all virtues
No wonder all prey is in the belly of the hunter

13. I grieve for that chosen imam
The guide to truth when the wise were confused

14. I grieve - the earth almost shook in awe
And people nearly died of regret

15. I grieve the pillar of sciences and their chief
I grieve the one who arranged the lessons

16. The one who helped the young students
Clarified and explained for the questioner

17. The one who kindly and humbly advised
The one who in the dark of night shone light

18. The one who relieved difficult questions
Supported the weak seeker of protection

19. The one who commanded proper conduct
And warned against rejection and danger

20. Indeed the gatherings and assemblies darkened
At his death and the atmosphere turned dusty

21. The jinn on the hill cried after they
Proclaimed him on the highland

22. And the school wept, slowing its slaughter
While knowledge mourns him with red tears

23. The night has darkened since it lost its beloved
Who used to revive its heart in contemplation

24. O time, you have made us grieve over one
Who was a refuge for seekers without doubt

25. O grave, you have covered a towering dome
Strange to cover a lofty dome within the soil

26. If you hide his body from us, sciences remain
He disseminated that will not be covered

27. His life continues through his knowledge
While his body returns to dust that you see

28. We are pleased with what the Lord decreed
On all creatures, those deceased and later generations

29. The creations have no escape but to taste
The cup of death, so be ever patient

30. O Lord, give him paradise in bliss
In the company of Ahmad, best of creation

31. Then blessings and peace be upon him perpetually
As long as doves coo on green branch

32. His Household and Companions as long as
The full moon appears on horizon or travels the night
