1. We are destined to depart though passions seek to detain,
With Thee are gardens of ease where no disturbing cares remain.
١. إِنّا لَنَرْحَلُ والأَهْواءُ أَجْمَعُها
لَدَيْكَ مُسْتَوْطِناتٌ لَيْسَ تَرْتَحِلُ
2. To them is brought from Thy paradise the very breath of flowers,
While about them the abundant rain from Thy clouds that hover pours.
٢. لَهُنَّ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ الرَّوْضُ الأَرْيَضُ ومِنْ
نَدَاكَ يَغْمُرُهُنَّ العارِضُ الهَطِلُ
3. There every poor man may gain riches that shall endure for aye,
When longing leads his steps to seek that far and happy way.
٣. لكُنْ كُلُّ فَقيرٍ يَسْتَفيدُ غِنىً
دَعاهُ شَوْقٌ إِلى أَوْطانِهِ عَجِلُ
4. There when the warrior brings his spoils with victory home,
The highest prize he counts is to let fall the key and come.
٤. وكُلُّ غازٍ إِذا جُلَّتْ غَنيمَتُهُ
فَإِنَّ آَثَرَ شَيْءٍ عِنْدَهُ القَفَلُ
