1. My heart is constricted with love,
And longing has exhausted my patience.
١. قَد ضاقَ بِالحُبِّ صَدري
وَأَنفَدَ الشَوقُ صَبري
2. My worries have made sleep take flight,
And my tears flow in secrecy.
٢. وَطَيَّرَ النَومَ هَمّي
وَنَمَّ دَمعي بِسِرّي
3. Yearning has lit a fire,
Sending my tears streaming down.
٣. وَأَوقَدَ الشَوقُ ناراً
تَمُدُّ دَمعي فَيَجري
4. In my heart snakes of sorrow
Slither between my ribs.
٤. في الصَدرِ حَيّاتُ هَمٍّ
بَينَ الجَوانِحِ تَسري
