1. When the lover is abandoned, he weeps
And shows reproach, that he may find relief from reproach,

2. And if he tries avoidance, he cannot endure it-
The lover cannot withstand avoidance.

3. Don't you see the Messenger as you see him,
Conveying the message and bringing the reply,

4. And taking the letter with what I have conferred-
So she kisses it- Blessed is the letter!
