1. O you who comes complaining
At dusk and dawn
١. أَيُّها المُقبِلُ بِالشَك
وى غَبوقاً وَصَبوحا
2. We have known you sick
And we have known you healthy
٢. قَد بَلَوناكَ مَريضاً
وَبَلَوناكَ صَحيحا
3. And we have shown you from us
Our affection plainly and sincerely
٣. وَبَذَلنا لَكَ مِنّا
ودَّنا مَحضاً صَريحا
4. Yet we found you, by the praise of Allah
In affection miserly
٤. فَوَجدناكَ بِحَمدِ اللَ
هِ بِالودِّ شَحيحا
5. Yearning for your face began in my heart
Wounds
٥. أَنشَأَ الشَوقُ إِلى وَج
هِكَ في القَلبِ قُروحا
6. I only complain of a gazelle
Languid of glance, beautiful
٦. إِنَّما أَشكو غَزالاً
فاتِرَ الطَرفِ مَليحا
7. My companion who spends his evenings
At ease from the yearning within me
٧. شادِناً يُمسي مِنَ الشَو
قِ الَّذي بي مُستَريحا
