1. O success, what harm to one who spends the night under your care
That he gains no worldly success like the Abbasid family
١. يا فَوزُ ما ضَرَّ مَن أَمسى وَأَنتِ لَهُ
أَن لا يَفوزَ بِدُنيا آلِ عَبّاسِ
2. If God were to apportion beauty among mankind piecemeal
Beauty would be perfected among the people
٢. لَو يَقسِمُ اللَهُ جُزءاً مِن مَحاسِنِها
في الناسِ طُرّاً لَتَمَّ الحُسنُ في الناسِ
3. I saw gray hair in her master, how wondrous
For one who sees her while gray hair shows on his head
٣. أَبصَرتُ شَيباً بِمَولاها فَوا عَجَبا
لَمِن يَراها وَيَبدو الشَيبُ في الراسِ
