1. Together they came and whispered quietly
As she roused the bright one, grieved,
١. جاءَتْ مَعاً وَاطَّرَقَتْ شَتِيتا
وَهْيَ تُثِيرُ الساطِعَ السِخْتِيتا
2. And left their shepherd distraught,
Who nearly died as he slept.
٢. وَتَرَكَتْ راعِيَها مَشْتُوتا
قَدْ كادَ لَمّا نامَ أَنْ يَمُوتا
