1. The generosity of the virtuous master has spread goodness throughout the land
And enriched it like plentiful rain wherever it goes

2. You have brought back the joy of life to every town
Where there is no hardship for seekers

3. Your wealth has flowed freely through your right hand
Generous despite the world’s stinginess and fear

4. In every neighborhood, you have blessed them with your gifts
So it is right that your glory eclipses all sins

5. A mirage deceived me, yet here is a sea
With sweet water right beside me to drink my fill

6. I journeyed to seek sustenance, and on my land
Are pastures for the eye and valleys that yield rain

7. The clouds learned bounty from you
And if they cannot emulate you, how can they hit their mark?

8. Misfortune made me keep my distance from the righteous king
But fortune will change and return

9. To his door lies my destination, and to the steadfast
Comes the grace of acceptance when one turns to God

10. My body stayed away but my heart
Remained, never leaving his door or going far

11. When you hear of the humble visitor
Know that I am that stranger who is yet so near

12. Whenever I draw close, my fortune
Is to be brought near and welcomed warmly

13. When I attained the blessings of the righteous king
I swore sincerely that I will never waver

14. No distance or wars can distract me from him
Or quench my heart that yearns to look upon his gentle face,

15. As people say Adam has regained immortality—
Behold, this is wondrous indeed!

16. For my life, though it last until all I wish for is fulfilled
Is bitter without the shade of his shelter

17. O brothers of the desert! My dear kindred!
If a brother forgets me, reproach him

18. Say to my raincloud that pours forth in time of dire need,
My rescuer when disasters have befallen me,

19. Dispeller of gloom who rains goodness eternally,
My springtime, do not withhold my share of your gifts

20. I complain to you of a time that betrayed me
And stripped me bare, leaving me destitute

21. And afflictions that the days have hurled at me
Darkening my horizon—all have struck their mark

22. I have lost my inheritance and all I earned
Between Egypt and the sea, some parts wrecked, some pillaged

23. I see my camel, once mighty, now too weak to bear his load
And he sees any boon from other than you

24. As an added burden, a torment upon him
What excuse does fate have if it delays

25. My hopes when your grace is all I seek?
Is not every crop in Egypt also yours?

26. Every servant nourished and prosperous?
Generosity is your noble nature

27. So why should blessings you grant be deemed strange?
It has reached me from afar, as fragrant winds blow spices

28. Wondrous that your gifts should flow
While the recipient remains still

29. A precedent set by the righteous king
In which each creature receives his share

30. My praises have brought me closer to him
Though he is near to all who draw close

31. With bounty he has an open hand
And ample chest, and welcomes widely

32. In his days, the world smiled with joy
And no distress could trouble it
