1. He whose protection was vile to me, with a slanderous tongue,
While my calling him brought me a garden of bliss.

2. He who was never without bounty from his hands,
And in whose days I found refuge.

3. The righteous king, the guide, whose excellence
The tidings and scriptures witnessed.

4. A king whose gifts of bounty enrich, so when
You draw near him, your fortune is ennobled.

5. The most brilliant, splendid, in his palms clouds
Of dew, from which the clouds of life drink and draw.

6. He is the minister who inclines to the burden of office,
So people are relieved of all that tasked them.

7. You see his opinions tomorrow enact his tomorrow,
Settling matters before confusion can envelop.

8. An insight that revealed the hearts to him,
Informing him before all was laid bare.

9. The world yearned for his asceticism out of desire,
Yielding to him freely, though loathing his way.

10. She was not married to any match but him.
Ever rising, aspiring to his glory.

11. A scholar, when night shelters him in its gown,
An ocean of knowledge, inexhaustible.

12. A warrior, when he approaches the niche sincerely,
His tears flowing from awe that stills him.

13. Devout, while creation sleeps from vigilance
And the Quran, secluded in devotion.

14. The earth shines with the sheen of his cheek
In his hand, almost eclipsing the sun.

15. He knows not moderation in generosity, pleasing him
Extravagance and prodigality in spending his money.

16. When he frowns, hopes return content,
When he smiles, the horizons nearly quake.

17. O king, fulfilling his promises,
Veiling himself from the world with dignity.

18. To you, O just in your rule and generous
Beyond measure, I complain of time's tyranny.

19. Continuing its injustice upon the likes of me,
Usurping and aggrieving without cease.

20. Its calamities have worn me down and drained
My springs of bounty, scattering my company.

21. I called you oppressed and hopeful,
In your hands lies wealth, justice, and grace.

22. So gather, through your bounty, a group that was together
Then parted, though it was bonded in closeness.

23. And spread, through your kindness, kindness to those
Who confess the beneficence you have shown.

24. For he is a loyal friend and believer in you
Even if distance and intervals come between you.

25. Live despite those who enviously oppose you,
Triumphant in a state eternal, without end or edge.

26. Disregard this and say to the children of hopes
The path of wishes has been illuminated, sorrows dispelled.

27. A blossoming orchard of generosity, heavy
With fruit, from which abundant wealth is plucked.

28. Come with your hopes to Egypt, where clouds
Draw from its rain, sate themselves, and are fertile.

29. God has granted it an ever-increasing Nile
That never fails, stills, or retreats.

30. Its waters are ever-flowing, pure,
On its banks, for hopes, a garden of bliss.

31. The flag of justice has been raised, its guide
Taking revenge on time’s tyranny and avenging.

32. The most splendid of the splendid in piety has toiled in it
Until wrong and injustice were exposed.

33. And he was generous with riches until he left no
Hopes - generosity and merit are only to give lavishly.

34. O righteous king who dispelled the darkness
When night falls, dawn certainly brings clarity.

35. He who has turned from the vanity and lure of the world
Since she solicited him, rejecting her overtures.

36. His answer is “yes,” followed by blessings -
No blame or reproach suits his mouth.

37. He enriches the destitute, gently reproaching them
As if they have reproached him while he was in debt.

38. Gratitude cannot match his constant generosity -
His favors exceed our praise and our descriptions.

39. Yet his gifts to people bear witness,
Thanking his beneficence, though thankfulness varies.

40. As a garden, if it cannot thank the raincloud
When it rains upon it, still shows its bounty.

41. O Sufficer of creation with blessings, their Guarantor,
Until they are safe in your justice and spared of want.

42. I saw your glory elevating the worth of one who speaks of you
So how could one you describe not be sublime?

43. You conferred on me the stars of Gemini, strung
As a necklace - truly, pride and nobility befit the likes of me.

44. You elevated my status, so I have become nobly
Exalted over the buyer, rising and towering high.

45. Carry to my hearing - may it be sweet - good news
Of attaining what I hope for and desire.

46. I have composed verses whose excellence guards it
Like oyster shells guarding the pearl within.

47. That eyes may be diverted from it - forever
They turn away from perfection when perceiving a flaw.

48. O Dispeller of gloom, hear a prayer fulfilled
With thanks - may ears continue drinking it.

49. From one who has left his abode sincerely, drawing near,
Free, confessing your bounty beyond all people.

50. When he sees his distance from his Master’s door
Grief and sorrow almost consume him.

51. Were all creation to collectively undertake
Bearing your immense favors and the least thanks, they would falter.

52. How often have your gifts surprised me,
Though their way is contrary to promises made.

53. But in disregarding promises, such pride
Is all nobility, and to expect them is confusion.

54. And gather my scattered company, those who have
Affection and kindness from you as their portion.

55. Renewing for me blessings you once conferred,
Successive, unceasing, and continuing from you.

56. Cool the burning heart that none but they
Can soothe, solace from remembering them.

57. Have mercy on the weak and children. When
They remember my absence, their discipline fails, tears pour.

58. They have laments and worries when they look
Upon their state, changed from what they knew and were accustomed to.

59. But a glance from you gives them life and makes
Their burdens and shackles fall away.

60. I have none to intercede but your noble traits
That, when implored, turn toward kindness.

61. And may the world survive through you and its inhabitants
As long as the land grows dark or green.

62. And defeat the enemies with a resolve that will not
Fail you, even if on the morrow of battle the brave and valiant waver.
