١. دَعْ ذا فما عُذرُ الفَتى
في غَيِّه والفَودُ شائِبْ
2. And virtue guards the noble from concealing
Their failings, though the foolish disobey,
٢. والأرْيَحِيَّةُ تمنعُ ال
كُرماءَ أن يَغْشُوا المعايِبْ
3. Ignorance refuses to take as kin
One sixty years his elder and his mate.
٣. والجهلُ يأبى أن يكو
ن لهُ أخو الستّين صاحِبْ
