1. O Abu Hasan, in the fold of every misfortune,
There is kindness from God for His servants.
١. أبا حَسَنٍ في طيِّ كلِّ مساءةٍ
من اللهِ صنعٌ للعبادِ جميلُ
2. Yesterday, I disliked your traveling, but perhaps
A youth will benefit from a long stay by departing.
٢. كرهتُ لَكَ التِّرحالَ أمسِ وربَّما
أفادَ الفتي طولَ المُقامِ رَحيلُ
3. A man may dislike something when it is better for him
And like something when it is worthless.
٣. وقد يكرَهُ الشيءَ الفتى وهو خَيرُهُ
لَه ويحبُّ الشَّيءَ وهو وَبِيلُ
4. Even if you gain only jihad, its reward
Is great, as the Book has described.
٤. ولو لَم تُفِد إلاّ الجِهَادَ فإنّه
ثوابٌ كما نصَّ الكتابُ جزيلُ
5. How then, when you have become a neighbor of Majid,
Who bestows on the eminent and gives freely?
٥. فكيف وقد أصبحتَ جاراً لماجدٍ
يجودُ على عِلاّتِه ويُنيلُ
6. Noble, barely glancing at the faults of his neighbor.
His glance in requesting is not miserly.
٦. كريمٍ كليلِ الطّرْفِ عن عيبِ جارِه
وما طَرْفُه عِند السّؤالِ كلَيلُ
7. He bought praise with wealth, not content
In buying it, nor stingy toward the seller.
٧. شرى الحمدَ بالأموالِ لا يَستقيلُ في
شِراهُ ولا عندَ البِيَاعِ يُقيلُ
8. He who helps the faith - his side
Is vast, and his shade is shady.
٨. ومَنْ كمُعينِ الدِّين أمّا جَنابُه
فرحبٌ وأمّا ظِلُّه فَظَليلُ
9. When our hopes reach the sea of his generosity,
They draw fresh water with no brackishness.
٩. إذا وَرَدَت آمالُنا بَحرَ جُودِه
صَدَرنَ روَاءً ما بِهنِّ غَليلُ
10. So trust in God, then in his generosity,
For I guarantee what I hope from him.
١٠. فكُنْ واثِقاً باللهِ ثم بِجُودِه
فإنِّي بما أمَّلتُ مِنهُ كَفيلُ
