1. My Lord commanded me in a matter that requires reflection
Whether to an insensitive or perceptive person

2. I punish with affliction and restricted livelihood
And take the purest of money

3. And preoccupy those turned by anger
And settle among the sons of the Jews

4. And the night comes with great horror
In fear of murder and destructive looting

5. In fear of the turns of fate one day
A dreadful dawn in an arduous time

6. I see the world and its tribulations like a pregnant woman
Who is neither despairing nor giving birth

7. If only the barren camel came
With a newborn, even if a viper
