1. Before the worms devour you
As you lie confined in a grave

2. Pray and fast for Allah, thank Him
For Allah is praised and worshipped

3. And whatever bounty Allah gave you
Be generous with it while you exist

4. How many misers have your eyes seen
Amassing money while envied

5. They reached their graves, their days
Alive or dead all turned to black

6. Left behind wealth for an heir
His body stretched out in a niche

7. He left the world feeling regret
Tomorrow at Resurrection fatigued

8. And for a pittance he cannot ransom
Held by decay with the door shut

9. So be gentle and as long as you live
This lifetime cannot be restored
