1. The state's glory fades
As it weakens and impoverishes it

2. And its supporter in distress
Sweeps it away and besieges it

3. So he is not hopeless of it
Nor do provisions diminish it

4. Neither is this by its strength
Nor that after helping it

5. And the spirits of obedient men
Towards death cramming them

6. Indeed, it has left the hungry faces
