1. The clouds of youth have rained upon you,
And the southern winds blew generously upon you.

2. You were once a pasture for youth and a meadow,
When one side dries up, the other flourishes.

3. When your bright days smile in their prime,
The elders lament while the youths rejoice.

4. When old age earns dignity, it then
Blames you for youth, O charmer of hearts!

5. In the fold of time, every wonder occurs,
So whoever lives sees prohibitions and wonders,

6. And reason reveals to him what was its cause;
Passion and perplexing wonders.

7. And I, praise God, look from afar
To walk the path of good though good is absent,

8. If the course of time deceives me,
And I lack in it an intimate, close friend,

9. Who has no beautiful patience for passion
That makes perplexities white for him,

10. And I resided with one whose neighbor is never devoid of good,
Nor hoping for his benevolence to be disappointed,

11. And I said to him: Patience is the greatest treasure
When disturbed speech deceives with sorrows.

12. O man! O master whom despite enemies
Ships set sail towards!

13. Abu Muslim, authority has chosen
An honorable companion who fears and observes.

14. It matched with Mahmoud's virutes Muhammad
A cultured writer, and he is an accountant.

15. Its virtues originated from his father's name Su'dud, which is fitting.
If glory were asked to choose the best companion,

16. Al-Mu'tasim would take him, and he is willing.
If vocalized, glory would say through its mouth,

17. It lauds him as Ashtar and takes pride in him.
So at all times, from his mighty status,

18. A praiser of his generosity can be found addressing him.
His manners are like the dew's fresh light,

19. And the clouds gratuitously poured on him at night.
Like an endless sword that bends to the touch,

20. Death in it whetted its edge that reaps lives.
Like the shining sun and the radiant moon at dawn

21. When processions crowded on its sides.
He saw resolve for the Exalted in his determination,

22. So he determined them with opinion and discerning opinion.
With the victorious crowned King, his might

23. Is linked to the might of the stars that assisted him.
So this kingdom remains lofty in its branches

24. To the eagle, the swooping bird, and the firm root.
The world is pleasant and its bliss is pleasant,

25. So whoever decried it, now desires it.
Safe security, faithful victory, chastity,

26. Expanse, justice, all-encompassing grace.
God has secured the countries, so they woke up

27. With wolves grazing mint and rabbits.
O teacher! The praise of a praiser

28. Deemed praise an obligation, and it is an obligation.
Uqayra’s outskirts and plains have flourished

29. With the refinement of its judicious ruler.
With chastity, justice, victory, and power!

30. Would God refuse such tributes?
I shepherded the subjects' affairs compassionately,

31. So pure gains flowed unto them.
I brought them close as if you were their father,

32. Your wisdom ever-present and your understanding prevailing.
Live safely, fearing, hoping, and pious,

33. Despite the enemies, as long as the pearl has luster.
I do not tire of composing and versifying,

34. So these pursuits have barred other interests.
For eighty years you left me, and I remained

35. Rigid when tribulations greeted me.
I became like something discarded after I stood up

36. To a dune the obscurities had concealed.
I praised you by choice and aspired to honor,

37. And I now repent praising anyone but you.
